Yes it's been months but I've made some art! I loved how season 2 of Dollhouse kicked off and had to make a piece from it. So spoilery if you haven't seen the episode..

Very simple piece just to get me back into the whole art world...

Hopefully this will mean more art soon :)

New site

Just over a month between updates, that's not too bad!

I've spent the last month working on my new site. I really felt the need for a change with Misplaced so I created Belladonna and today finally finished moving everything over and all the new coding. The syle is fairly similar but it's completely re-coded and properly this time. Because I got misplaced when I knew very little about coding some of it was really badly done and most of the site didn't work with Firefox, but that's all changed now!

I feel really pleased with the result and hopefully the new site will encourage me to update and add more to it often!

I'm at home today waiting for my landlord to come round, we've got new security doors to get into the flats and I really need a key before they turn them on and I'm shut out!

I just finished reading The Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini and would like to take a few lines to recommend these books to everyone! I won't talk about the story so much as it's too special for me to try and summarise or talk up, just how reading these books has affected me.

I’m not a huge reader, I wish I was but between work and sleep I find I have too little time for all the things I want to do.

That said I was recommended The Kite Runner by my mum and I wanted to see the film and thought I should settle down and read the book first.

I think it was the first book that I haven’t wanted to put down in ages. I can’t describe how reading it made me feel, it was more than just a story, it was a whole lifetime in which my view on so many things has changed and I feel the story lives in me, as a part of my memories, as real as those memories of my past.

Having enjoyed this book so much and actually mourned reaching the end I went straight out to get A Thousand Splendid Suns, thinking I could never like this book as much. I put off reading it for about 2 weeks because I knew once I started I wouldn’t stop!

I started yesterday, it was dead quiet at work and I thought how great it would be to help the day fly, and boy it did once I started reading. I deliberately didn’t take the book home with me as I knew I would eat or sleep, so I had a restless evening in which all I wanted to do was drive to work to get my book! Once I arrived at work this morning I wasted no time in getting into it.

A Thousand Splendid Suns hit me more than the Kite Runner, I don’t know if it’s because the lead characters are woman or if I am more familiar with the world it’s set in so the atrocities are more real in my mind. But I had to go and walk around the car park twice with tears streaming down my face.

Again upon finishing it I feel heartbroken. I keep re-living scenes in my head so clear it’s amazing that from just my first read I know it so well.

So this is a short word from me saying read these books! It will change you, and in a really good way. It’s an experience, not just a good read!!

Mike and I have been re-watching Buffy the last couple of weeks, watching every episode, well almost every episode.. more than I normally watch on a re-watch and it really makes you appreciate the good and great episodes more when you see the bad ones!

Anyway I've been playing in PS on my new laptop and managed to make 3 pieces from Buffy.. nothing amazing but fun to play and re-discover what everything does in Photoshop!

Yes after my mothers best friend… and to this day I’ve never met her, says something about my mum’s friendships.. oh and the fact she lives in Australia now!!

2. WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU CRIED?

Umm when I watched Black Beauty between Christmas and New Year, I cried buckets. I loved that film growing up and my sister got it for me for Christmas J

3. DO YOU LIKE YOUR HANDWRITING?

Definitely not. I avoid writing as much as possible. I even used to type my diary!!

4. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE LUNCH MEAT?

Umm chicken I guess. I don’t really eat meat at lunch though.. or any other time!

5. DO YOU HAVE KIDS?

No.

I don’t know.. hopefully!!

Define ‘a lot’!

Yep.

Nope. Not a cooking person at all. My idea of dinner living on my own would be toast.. sometimes beans on toast if I’m being creative!!

I’m not a cereal person, can’t stand milk.

I think only my trainers have laces and I don’t really wear them often but no I don’t untie them!

Fairly.. I can lift heavy boxes and push Mike around a bit!!

I had Baileys ice cream last week, nothing beats that :D

Eyes mostly. I think some people have friendly eyes and others mean eyes.. animals too!

Back from my 5 day holiday in Rock, Cornwall. It was lovely, so relaxing and we had so much fun. The weather was pretty good considering the time of year and the terrible summer we've had! One day of grey sky and rain and on that day we crossed to Padstow and went out fishing. The rest of the holiday was mostly sunny so we just read a bit on the beach, went for long walks around the beautiful countryside and spent a lot of time visiting old pubs trying all the local beers and wines.. because I think that's very important!!

So here are some pictures!

This is my 10 year old dog Molly who came with. She is about to go on a fishing boat for the first time and is really enjoying watching the bait being loaded onto the boat! She became such a puppy on this holiday even chasing bits of sand around the beach!!

This is Daymer Bay beach, about 2 mins from where we stayed, so beautiful and pretty much empty everyday! The tide is right out and you can see Molly in the middle having a wee!!!!

This is the other side of the beach, you can see the other side of the bay and as the tide is so low you think you can walk across but having tried it.. you really can't!! Great for windsurfing here as there aren't that many waves

This is Polzeath were the waves did come in, although a low tide there were a bit smaller. The first time we went surfing here they were 4 feet high.. well I say surfing, I can never stand completely up but it's great fun trying!!

This is Daymer Bay again from the top of the hill in picture 2.. walking up it is very painful and demands you rest in the local pub eating chips and drinking local beer for a few hours after!!!!

Another shot from the top of the hill, this time further down the estuary. So lovely the beaches were almost deserted the whole week!

Again from the top of the hill.. you can see how steep it is!! This is the church that poet John Betjemen was burried at. Because it's so old they had to build the golfcourse ar

Tis the house we stayed in. Really comfy and loads of room as it comes round to the left!

This is our local beach, from the other side of the estuary. The sand dunes were so lovely, you could walk for hours along them!

This is Polzeath again, we walked all round the cliffs finding little coves and imaging pirates and treasure! Oh and I just noticed Molly's head on the bottom right!! She found a rabbit on this beach and chased the poor thing for 5 minutes!

Ok see that point of the cliff in the distance.. yep we walked there! Man that was hard, not the up hill bit but having your right left always a bit higher that the left.. felt like mountain goats! Beautiful views though!

So much fun. I am already planning to go back next year with my Dad, step mom and little brother so I can watch him enjoy the beaches!!

I gave myself two things to do at work today, find beach towels for my holiday and buy Dead Like Me DVDs.. I've spent what.. 5 hours on this so far with no damn luck! I can't find any towels I like for as cheap as I like! And the DVDs.. I'm sure they were only £10 at Amazon but I can't find them anywhere for under £29 and I'm sorry but for a short season DVD there is no way I will pay that much! I paid £9 for the whole of Tru Calling!

It always felt like one of those days I should have just stayed in bed!

I'm feeling inspired to be all into LJ again.. how many times have I said that!

I have a paid account and yet I waste it so much, don't even have all the userpics, a mood theme or done anything with the layout, let alone actually post often /sigh

Hopefully this new leaf will stick and I'll be around a lot more. :)

Hope everyone on my flist is ok, I'll try and visit today!

So here it is the episode long wallscroll from the Firefly episode Out of Gas. I finished it last night after another 5 hours solid work!

Some parts I love and others I hate, but going back to change bits now would take me so long and the thought of it makes me sleepy!

Also I haven't cut it up enough still so it's slow loading ;)

I was off work again today, I was sick all week, well better yesterday and today but I felt time off was needed to just do nothing. I feel I've not had a day doing nothing for so long. I've been watching the Gilmore Girls while sick, I've watched all of season 4 and am 2 episodes off finishing season 5, I forgot how much I love season 4. I also made some GG icons to continue my obsession.

Gonna watch the new VM and OC episodes, plus got some cheap wine and chocolate! This is the way to recover from illness!

So hungover, can't think about anything other than what a mess my parents house is...!

Since I've been back from Canada I've not got a flat, so I've been house sitting for anybody and this week and the next two weeks I'm at my mum and step dad's while they are in Thailand. It's the most beautiful old house set in the woods. I love it here, and we had a good night last night.. at least that's what the mess this morning tells me!

Anyway, shower, coffee.. all will start coming back to me soon :)

See I am alive!

Again there has just been so much going on since getting back to the UK, I've even been neglecting Misplaced. Luckily I have a new computer arriving tomorrow and this weekend I'm going to spend some time sorting out my LJ and hopefully update much more often.

I've been reading my FL every now and again, but will also be a much more active friend in the months to come!

Loads of news to come soon I promise xxx
